Darryl Hicks to North Oldham

One of the top prospects in the state for the class of 2013, Darryl Hicks, has officially enrolled at North Oldham High School. The 6'4 Hicks, who was in the Shelby County system last year, is considered by many to be one of the top incoming freshman in the country after putting up huge numbers over the summer on the AAU circuit for The Ville' (who also won the Adidas Super 64 14U tourney in Vegas).

As an 8th grader playing varsity for Shelby County last year, Hicks averaged 8 ppg and 5 rpg. From the Louisville Courier Journal, his father said the following about the transfer:

"It's officially North Oldham," the elder Hicks said. "Everything is cleared and he's enrolled and ready to go. We're excited for him." "It was the best situation we looked at and it was not just about basketball," the elder Hicks said. "We really liked the academic situation at North Oldham. He's a talented enough athlete that the coaches will be there and all of (the recruitment) will be in order. But his academics have too be up too par."

Hicks is currently receiving interest from the following schools:
Indiana
, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Xavier, Ohio State, Missouri and Butler

One of the more intriguing match ups on North Oldham's schedule this coming season will be when they travel to Fern Creek who has one of the top senior prospects in the state in 6'5 Orlando Rutledge. Will be interesting to see how Hicks and Rutledge match up.

Hicks leaving Shelby County surely makes some wonder "why?". My partner Lee Witte forwarded the following story to me:
