2009 Lloyd Invitational Brackets

The annual Lloyd Invitational Brackets have been released. The tournament starts December 27th at 1:00 when Lewis Co and Villa Madonna meet to open the tourney up. All games are held in Lloyd's main gym unless noted otherwise. Here are the first round match ups:


Upper Bracket:

2:00 Campbell Co v Beechwood (Tichenor Middle School Gym)
3:45 Newport v Deming (Tichenor Middle School Gym)
1:00 Lewis Co v Villa Madonna
2:45 Holmes v Pendleton Co

Lower Bracket:

4:30 Bryan Station v Cooper
6:15 Holy Cross v Cumberland Co
8:00 North Laurel v Lloyd Memorial
9:45 Conner v Bellevue


Thoughts:

• I really like the way the event coordinators set it up with Holmes and Bryan Station in opposite brackets. That is my championship game, with Holmes coming out on top. Last year they had the two best teams, Holmes and Seneca, meet in the first round.


• The game that intrigues me most is the Holmes-Pendleton Co game. Holmes should win handily but it will be interesting to see how Freshman phenom Mason Monroe does against the defending state champs. It will be a great time for him to prove himself with a player like Ricardo Johnson guarding him.

Should be a great tournament with some very good games.
