A few thoughts:
- After seeing Ryle Friday night against Dixie, I think they're a solid pick for #2. They were very impressive offensively in the second half against the Colonels of Dixie. Catch the replay of that game on nkysports.com
- #3 and #4 is a toss up IMO. Having seen both Conner and SK I personally think Conner is the better of the two, but when you have a kid like Miles Simpson on your team it's tough to not have them ranked where they are. I think Conner is a little more complete defensively though. We'll know Friday night when these two meet up.
- Dixie at #5 is about right. Offensively they're a little further along than Boone but their defense needs some work if they want to contend with Highlands or even Covcath.
- Speaking of Covcath, it's nice to see them make their way back in the rankings. They were very impressive in their win over Beechwood Saturday. They seem to be coming along nicely under first year head coach, Dave Wirth.
- Holmes at #9 looks about right to me. It's tough to get a true gauge on them since they've only played Cooper, Lloyd, and Bellevue from nky. Their week 7 match up against Dixie should tell us more about this team. Don't be surprised if they welcome the Colonels undefeated at 6-0. They should be favored in their next two games against Pendleton Co and Franklin Co.
- Lastly, I still don't understand why Holy Cross is ahead of Beechwood. The Tigers beat the Indians and both teams dropped this past week's game. Oh well...the only ranking that really matters is who's #1 at the end of the year in each class.
