Brett Blevins first reported it earlier tonight on his Twitter page, but Ricardo Johnson has officially committed to play for the Ohio Bobcats. Coach John Groce gave RJ an in home visit when he decided to commit. Ricardo was rated by Rick Bolus' high potential recruiting service as the #1 prospect in the state.
I personally think this is a good move for Ric. He can come in and play right away and will be a star at Ohio for 4 years. I think he should have waited to see what else comes his way, but you can't fault the kid for pulling the string early and getting it out of the way so he can focus on his high school season. RJ chose Ohio over both Bradley and Western Kentucky. He had a visit scheduled for Western Kentucky coming up and several other schools such as Oklahoma St were starting to show serious interest. Stay tuned for more as I'll try to get a word with Ric this week and and get some feedback on his decision.
